This popular service has been developed by Richard Marshall. Health Trusts throughout the North East have made use of this service to combat lengthening waiting lists. These include initiatives in Northumberland, Newcastle, North Tyneside, South Tyneside, Gateshead, Bishop Auckland, Sedgefield, Newton Aycliffe, and Darlington.
As well as providing a more efficient and effective service, psychology services have found it particularly useful to be able to enter into a contract that specifically meets their local needs. As well as tackling waiting lists this service has been used to minimise the impact of staff absences and to make unfilled posts more attractive by reducing waiting lists prior to appointments being taken up.
Specialist workshops in relation to formulation and intervention are available along with a review of waiting list strategies in use within individual services.
